New Moon in Sagittarius 2014

The New Moon in Sagittarius this Saturday comes only hours after the Sun has spun into the sign notorious for its Pollyannaism. This shift from the Sun hanging out in dark, secretive, sensitive, focused Scorpio– into optimistic, spontaneous, restless, idealist Sagittarius will shift our overall daily focus.

For those who have planets or points in their own astrology early in a Mutable sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius & Pisces) this shift is likely to feel particularly, palpable as it will light up parts of your own chart.

New Moons single new beginning’s — a hitting of the restart button, and provide us an opportunity to successfully start those things we have been procrastinating, or a have found there to be a lack of traction to get started. All mutable signs by their nature have a malleable, changeable quality to them. Such archetypal energy is well suited when paired with the New Moon.

Use this time to reflect on the things that bind you from which you wish to break free. New Moon’s are lovely times to set forth our intentions going forward. Not unlike New Years resolutions, New Moons are time to start to do things differently.

The New Moon, and in truth the whole time the Sun is in Sagittarius, is a perfect opportunity for us to find our own inner Artemis. She is the Greek goddess of the hunt and the wilderness; she is the guide to all woodland creatures. Tapping into her story we learn we can in fact guide ourselves out of the woods, even if we have lost the trail.

Are there places in your life you feel you may have lost your way? Are you not sure which way to go? Are there things you wish you had the courage to try, go-for, call to you? Where have your fears of the unknown held you back from your own inner knowing?

Write these things down. Don’t think about it too much; just write what comes. When you are done, put it in a sealed envelope to which you will return this time next year and see what your own inner Artemis has led you to.

As the quote often attributed to the Transcendentalist Ralf Waldo Emerson states:

“Go not where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and forge a trail”.

With this New Mon – be your own Artemis; emerge from the wilds of Scorpio having forged your own trail.
